About us

Northcote Auctions is a long established family business with an excellent reputation both within the industry, local business and the general public. Established initially as Morwell Auctions by Charles Henry Menesdorffer in 1948, the firm soon became one of the prominent industries in the area. His son John Charles grew up working with his father learning the trade the hard way, from the floor upwards.

After becoming a member of the VARA (Vic. Auction Rooms Assoc.) in 1956, the business had now become a well respected entity. In 1978 John then purchased H. Glover Baylee & Co (est. 1866), another well respected name in the industry and branched down to the Melbourne area running his own business locally as well as running the business in Morwell after his father retired.

The business moved to Northcote in 1982 and has been established within this area since. During this period, Andrew John Charles (third generation) has once again taken up the family tradition of learning the business from the floor upwards. Since his father's retirement in 2000, Andrew continues to operate the business with a professional and understanding attitude towards both trade and the general public.

Our motto : "if you have a problem or a query, talk to us and we will help to the best of our ability". In this day of large corporate industries where you re a non-entity, at Northcote Auctions you are dealing with people who understand.
